ABOUT ME

Sara Nieves, ICNCS, CNS, advCNCS

Owner and Founder of Welcome Home Baby, LLC

Newborn Care Specialist

I discovered my passion for newborn care after spending time volunteering in orphanages in Peru and Kenya before and throughout college.  As a result, I have dedicated the past 8 years to expanding my education and newborn care experience. Through my desire to share this passion with more families, Welcome Home Baby was started in December 2016.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Child and Family Psychology from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI as well as over eight years of professional nanny, household management, and personal assistant experience. Combined with Newborn Care Specialist training through the the Newborn Care Training Academy, my education and expertise make me ideally suited to work with your family to give your newborn the best start possible.

It is my belief that every infant deserves the opportunity to start life with all of the tools and building blocks to form strong loving attachments, healthy sleep habits, and a routine that helps both baby and family strive.  When following baby’s cues and establishing a structured routine around the needs of baby and family, babies are set up for success for years into the future. Forming these building blocks, supporting healthy sleep habits from birth, getting baby sleeping through the night, and creating a custom routine that will follow each individual family through infancy are my main goals as an NCS.

I strive to continually further my education and remain up to date on all current ‘best practices’ and recommendations in the infant care industry. In addition to working long hours, 24-hour shifts, overnights, and continuous care, I love working within diverse family structures which make me a great fit for many households.

As a Newborn Care Specialist, I have experience working with multiples and premies, introducing new siblings into the home, traveling with families, as well as have knowledge of many different parenting styles and philosophies. I am committed to helping you implement your parenting style and will work alongside you to ensure your principles and philosophies are not compromised on my watch. Since the health and safety of your child are of great importance to me, I have been Pediatric and Infant CPR, First Aid, and AED certified and maintain up to date TB test and vaccines including Tdap and the annual flu shot.

My passion for childcare and those in the profession led me to co-found the Orange County Nanny Network where I formerly served as Co-President. I am also a member of the International Nanny Association (INA) in addition to the national nanny and infant care communities. I have a passion for car seat safety, baby gear, natural living, and babywearing which has lead me to have an expansive knowledge on these subjects. I attend several annual conferences and local training events to continually expand my up-to-date knowledge. This profession is truly my passion!
